On the first Friday of Argentina my true love gave to me…
A bus ticket and a taxiiiiiiiii
And of course we had to get up early.
At least it wasn’t 4 AM early. Although it Peru it was around 5 AM. But I’m in Argentina. Where they have weird accents and yummy pastries.
Part 1: Alta Gracia
After a nice nap on the bus, where Amelia and Luke (I am your father) were talking about things all lovey-dovey, cause they’re so cute. (Barf) And Amelia had to start talking to this guy for some reason. I don’t remember the reason but it is important to remember this.
Amelia makes lots of friends because she starts conversations with EVERYONE. She thinks people always talk to her…let’s count how many times she started the conversation.
Amelia : 1 OP (Other People) : 0
But we got off to see this cute little town that had a river and grass by the riverside.
And Luke learned that you always have to take 2 pictures in case someone is blinking. Unless you’re wearing sunglasses. Then you’re just cool and cross your eyes and weird stuff.
So walking around the town with a map we got at the bus station and we found this monastery place. It was really pretty.
So of course we had to sit down and have a matte and criollos. Matte is a wonderful Argentinian drink that is a really strong tea and everyone just chills and drinks it. It’s a wonderful social object. And criollos are a croissant-type pastry that is yummy with dulce de leche…but by itself it’s only okay. Amelia lied to me and told me they were amazing… But a cat came up to us and was meowing. SO CUTE!!!! So we fed it some criollos. But then it wanted the dulce de leche. And we couldn’t say no.
So we walked around. No one yelled at my ‘appropriate’ clothes. That was good. It was pretty. But we had 2 other towns to visit and time was dwindling, so we moved on. And walked to the museum of Che Guavera.
I have to say my knowledge on Che is sorely lacking…but it was interesting walking through the museum that used to be his home. I remember seeing the motorcycle diaries in Spanish class, but it did not fully express who he was. So I was able to learn a bit more, but also I feel like I wasn’t fully able to appreciate it. Oh well.
Now we had to figure out the next bus. So we had to ask someone where the bus station would be.
This guy came up trying to solicit us. We listen to him politely, then we ask him for directions and he and Amelia end up in a conversation. The question was…does it count if someone is soliciting? Or is it who started the general conversation? We decided to not count it.
So still Amelia : 0 OP : 0
We found a yummy sandwich place. Since I got a chicken sandwich and the other two got lamb sandwiches I got my own fries. Muahahaha more food for me.
Moving on and out!
