With the schedule switched around, we did the bike tour the second day. My stomach wasn’t very happy with me. I had a bowl of cereal and just felt nauseous. I swear, I just wanted to boot and rally. At one point I even tried puking. It didn’t work. Instead I just leaned against the wall.
The first wine place, which was also an olive place, was a short bike ride away from the bike place. That didn’t stop Amelia from falling. Haha. Before having wine, we tasted some olive oils and some other salsas (sauces) with bread. They were REALLY yummy, but I had to take it slow and very little to protect my tummy.
When it came to wine tasting, it actually wasn’t wine. It was more of choosing what type of liquor. There was a mad rush to the drinks, so I chilled in the window seat waiting for the line to die down, cause I’m smart and want to try more alcohol. Kez joined me and we chatted. A lot of people tried absinthe, which is REALLY strong. As it was 11 in the morning at that point, people didn’t appreciate that a lot.
When I felt well enough to get up and try some, I got dulce de leche flacor and frutilla (strawberry) flavor based on Melissa’s recommendation. I will totally go with her recommendations as it was delicious. Tasted like a jolly rancher, but not too sweet. And a miracle happened. My stomach felt perfect again. :O Drinking is truly the perfect cure for a hangover.
People noticed we had numbers on our bikes. It was extremely useful to find them after parking them as they all looked the same. I don’t know who, but someone had the brilliant idea that the numbers on our bike represent our pokemon. Of course after the first gen ends, the numbers just reset and we start again. Kim ended up being Ivysaur. Mau was her evolution, Venusaur. I was Gyardos and Ken was Raichu. I totally won that battle! Whoo whoo!
The next wine place we got to was a bit more serious. They had a museum, tour and everything. Though I wasn’t too keen on the tour. So we were like little kids, disturbing the peace. Go us! Though the plants were quite beautiful, the tour and indoors were a bit boring. However we finally got to the wine tasting part.
From my well cultured knowledge, expertise and large experience I did not find the wine particularly amazing. (Insert sarcasm) But it wasn’t my favorite wine. What I did find interesting was that it had a woody flavor. You know how you can smell wood? Well I tasted that smell in the wine. Therefore it’s a woody flavor.
And back on the bikes and to lunch we go.
We had lunch at this beer place that makes its own beer. So before our food came out, we got to taste each type of beer. Blonde, red and dark. I have found that I really like dark beer. The beer was quite good. The waiting for small portion of pizza we did get was not that good. Neither was still being hungry and then realizing how tired I was.
For some reason beyond me, we biked to one last bodega. I would have been content to return to the hostel and take a nap. Many people agreed with me, especially Mau since he was REALLY hungry. But on the bright side Melissa and Kim got their tandem bike finally! Which made Kim Butterfree and Melissa Kangaskhan.
This bike trip was slightly dangerous. Bad roads, plus apparently tourists had been mugged in the area recently so we got a police escort. Not foreboding at all. However I appreciated that they just had us taste wine instead of forcing us to go through this giant tour. Kim showed our table how to make the cool noise with the wine glass by getting it wet and circling the edge of the glass to create vibrating making noise. I did not succeed in making the noise, but I still enjoyed wine.
At the end we had the opportunity to explore the bodega or to just chill. I elected the latter and sat with Mau and Ken, chilling and whatnots. We were in a cabin like structure where it was quite open and we could see the actual plants through the giant windows. People slowly trickled back and Amelia rejoined us. “Oh my gosh!” She freaks out. We are confused “?” “My true love. Through the see through walls.” We look over to see where she’s gesturing. Except the walls were actually windows. “Uhh…”
Bike riding made it really difficult to wake up from the nap. I was- we all were exhausted. It didn’t help that they told us we’d be getting up at 7 the next morning. I call bull.
The dinner was a hamburger buffet. You got up, served yourself and sat down. Finding out that Kim had a portable chess board on her, we sat down and played chess. I haven’t played in quite a long time, but despite recalling how I sucked, I was excited to try it again. We just fell into our own little world. I mean we were outside with everyone, but everyone strangely started going away from us. NERDS IN THE CORNER!
So I didn’t suck. I actually gave Kim a run for her money. Until I gave away my queen. Then everything went downhill and she gave me a solid whoop in the ass. So Mau took over. I will not deny that I was totally rooting for Kim.
Mau had an interesting strategy that mostly consisted of fucking everything as much as possibly with the ponies. They were evil ponies. Kim was not pleased with the ponies. They had betrayed her for the last time. It was quite humorous. Finally she got rid of them and was able to kick his ass as well. Unfortunately by kick his ass I mean it was actually a good game that was intense until the end.
And then quote of the night: “Does that mean you worship her as a deity?” Kim asked Mau as he is an ewok and Amelia is C3PO. HAHAHAHA Mau worships Amelia. It amuses me greatly.
